OUR STORY

Where the hand-me-down pipeline began

Hand Me Forward grew from neighbors sharing what their kids outgrew. Now we’re building an easy way for more families—especially single moms—to trade sizes, save money, and keep clothes moving.

Hand Me Forward started with a familiar neighborhood rhythm: kids outgrow clothes fast, and the bags move from one porch to the next. We built a simple way to help that same kindness happen—on purpose, and for more families.

Instead of asking parents to list items, take photos, or negotiate online, we match families by children’s sizes, location, and a few basic preferences. When there’s a fit, we introduce you by email and you take it from there.

This exchange is always free—no buying, no selling, no pressure. Pickups and drop-offs are arranged directly between families, including easy contactless porch exchanges. The goal is to keep it friendly, safe, and wonderfully low-effort.

Launching in Columbus, Ohio, Hand Me Forward is designed to grow city by city—so more parents, including single moms and families facing financial hardship, can feel supported by their community.

OUR WHY

What Hand Me Forward Stands For

Neighbor-Led

Columbus, Ohio

Hand Me Forward started with a simple truth: parents already help each other. We’re turning that everyday “want these next?” text into an easy, size-based matching system—so more families can share without awkward asks or endless group threads.

Free to Join

No buying or selling

This isn’t a marketplace. Clothing is always given freely—no fees, no bidding, no “is this still available?” messages. Just a straightforward way to help a neighbor and ease the constant cost of kids growing faster than budgets.

Private + Simple

Email introductions

We don’t ask you to photograph every item or list details. Tell us sizes and preferences, and we’ll connect compatible families by email. You choose what to pass along, when it works, with clear boundaries and less noise.

Flexible Exchange

Porch pickup friendly

Families coordinate their own pickup or drop-off, including contactless porch exchanges. Keep it quick, keep it kind, keep it doable—because the best system is the one busy parents can actually use.
